Juventus’ Serie A monopoly has held strong for the last 8 seasons. The Bianconeri have put their faith in veterans either slightly below or well beyond the age of 30, with the phrase like a fine wine never being more appropriate.
Yet with the rise of the likes of Napoli and Inter Milan taking the champions down to the wire in recent seasons, investing in youth talent and potential to sustain the Old Lady’s domestic success looks set to increase.
Signings like Matthijs De Ligt could be the start of a different transfer policy. Although much lesser known with far less experience, Matias Soule also fit this description.
Though not known to most of the footballing world, the 16 year old Velez talent is highly rated in South America. Does young Argentinian attacker ring a bell? Yes he’s already been likened to Lionel Messi, which based on previously hyped players won’t end well.
But according to GOAL, Juventus are close to securing his signature. Soule has previously been chased by both Madrid clubs, perhaps a testament to the hype around him. But since he’s only 16 and playing for the Under 20s side in the Argentinian League, footage on the young talent is hard to come by. I’ll do my best!
I can only apologise. This is literally the only clip I can find of Soule on YouTube. It was a good finish and he speaks well in the interview, that’s just about as much I can speak about him, as someone who does not watch the Velez U20s side in the Argentinian league. Here’s a challenge: Find someone who does!
But if he’s being linked to Atletico, Real and Juve, there must be something special about this relatively unknown talent. Who knows? He could be the next best thing to come out of Latin America.
