Oblak edging for Utd move
David De Gea’s erratic form this season and the fact he is entering the last year of his contract is forcing Manchester United’s hand in the transfer market – uncertainty around his future means they have to plan for life without him, juts in case. One man capable of replacing the Spanish stopper is Slovenian Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid.
Having established himself as one of Europe’s top GKs since his move to the Spanish capital from Benfica in 2014, reports that Oblak is concerned about the competitiveness of Atletico in upcoming years, due to the likely departures of key figures such as Antonie Griezmann, Diego Godin and Juanfran. This is compounded by the fact, according to ESPN, Oblak has seen promises regarding squad improvement in order to challenge for top honours being broken by the Atleti hierarchy.
Having grown up a United fan and the attraction of being the figurehead of the Solskjaer revolution available to Jan, this may be one to track, but it is highly dependent on De Gea’s status with the club.
PSG eye Leicester’s Ricardo Pereira
With right-back Thomas Meunier seemingly on the verge of an exit from the Parc de Prince, Paris St. Germain are already lining up a replacement: Ricardo Pereira, the Leicester Mercury report.
Leicester signed Pereira for £20m last summer and his fantastic performances have already got him on the lists of major European clubs, including PSG and Barcelona. The 25-year-old averaged 3.4 tackles and 1.7 interceptions last season, tallying up six assists along the way. A quality signing.
West Ham vying a move for Pablo Fornals
According to Sky Sports News, West Ham United are ‘closing in’ on Villarreal’s Pablo Fornals. However, whilst The Hammers want to only spend £25m on the 23-year-old, Villarreal are only willing to accept offers in the region of £30m.
With the valuation off and rumours that Arsenal may also be vying for his signature, will West Ham manage to bring in the talented central-midfielder? Six goals from twelve Europa League games last campaign is a tidy return of a midfielder and would surely be a boost to West Ham’s everlasting hopes of breaking into the top six.
