Jadon Sancho: Decision time approaching for Dortmund winger?

Jadon Sancho is arguably England’s most promising youngster showcasing his talent at Borussia Dortmund. Having been involved in the first-team squad since 2017, he has racked up 30 goals in all competitions. 26 assists too, at just 19 years of age. Generational talent.

The winger could be tempted with a January move to England, with interest being shown by Manchester United and Chelsea. Die Borussen sit in 6th place, following a recent 4-0 hammering from Bayern. The Red Devils might be number one choice for Sancho with English compatriots Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard plying their trade at Old Trafford. He would find himself placed straight into the starting 11, on the right-hand side completing a devastating front three with Rashford and Martial.

Another option for Sancho could be Frank Lampard’s Chelsea. The Premier League’s dark horses have flourished during their all time top scorer’s first year in charge. The use of youth and home-grown talent in particular has been impressive. He would also be in company of fellow England internationals Abraham, Mount, Tomori and James. An attack of Sancho, Pulisic and Abraham sounds equally frightening. It might have to wait until the summer though, if Chelsea’s transfer ban DOESN’T get over turned. At the moment, nothing is certain.

Could Jadon Sancho force a move through?

A move away from Germany may be a good move for Sancho after receiving a fine and being sent to U23 training from being late to club duties. The Englishman is believed to be worth £120 million. However Dortmund may be forced to accept a lower offer if the former Manchester City winger continues to create trouble. Trying to force a move perhaps? Yet on the contrary, the German club are notorious for getting the most out of player sales. They could push for upwards of £120 million, not even joking.

There have also been tenuous links to Liverpool for the exciting prospect. But it just doesn’t seem realistic given their current front 3. One of Salah, Mane or Firmino would have to leave Anfield for this move to happen. Unlikely given their synergy and The Reds’ vision with Klopp in the dugout.

Jadon Sancho will add to whichever team he chooses, if he does decide to leave. Both United and Chelsea are utilising youth and building a core for the future. But trophies could be hard to come by in the short term. Gareth Southgate would probably prefer Sancho to play his football in England to build strong relations with the other Euro 2020 hopefuls.
