Duncan Ferguson: Everton hammer Chelsea 3-1 in passionate display

Everton were in turmoil 2 days ago. Marco Silva sacked, the side sitting in the relegation zone, no motivation going into today’s game against Chelsea. Up steps Duncan Ferguson. Big Dunc. When the club needed a legend to help them at such a low point, he delivered. A memorable performance on Merseyside by the Toffees.

Duncan Ferguson

Duncan Ferguson – PASSION

A fully packed Goodison Park was rocking. An incredible atmosphere to meet their former striker’s first game at the helm. No one knows how long it will last, but they will cherish every minute of it. An Everton side previously so deflated and lack lustre were fighting for the badge. Every player busting a gut, putting in 110% and not shying away from any challenge. Big Dunc’s mentality was in full swing and the aggression going into tackles was a joy to watch.

The goals Everton scored weren’t beautiful or great goals by any means. But they battled hard for each one. Whether that be Richarlison leaping to head in from close range and beating two Chelsea defenders to the ball. Big Dunc style. Or Calvert-Lewin persisting, not giving up and scrambling the ball into the back of the net twice. The passion we saw from Duncan Ferguson on the touchline was apparent in each goal. The players played for the badge, the fans and the manager. Something Everton fans will be ecstatic about.

You could feel the euphoria and excitement in Goodison from at home. The roars to greet their former front man, the cheers at full time and of course the celebrations for each goal. No ball boy was safe from Ferguson charging down the touchline! It was so refreshing to see a manager behaving like a fan in the dugout. Emotional to say the least.

Work to be done by Lampard

Frank Lampard

Chelsea were poor in the game. Let’s not hide from that. Defensively, they were sloppy. Zouma and Christensen were shambolic at the back. At fault for all 3 goals. Kepa could’ve done better with the first and possibly third goal. This honeymoon period with Frank Lampard is starting to fizzle out fast. 3 defeats in their last 4 Premier League games. The January window is now open and you don’t have to be genius to realise a top defender will be at the top of his list.
