Christian Eriksen: A layered profile on the Tottenham and Danish midfielder

Inter Milan have made contact with Tottenham Hotspur over the possibility of signing Danish midifelder Christian Eriksen. Spurs would prefer to sell him now rather than let him go for free in the summer, but Eriksen may fancy waiting for more options come July time. The likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United and Juventus have all reportedly been sniffing around. Is Inter an improvement on North London? And how would he fit in at his new side?

According to Sky Sports, Jan Vertonghen is keen to discuss a new contract. Though the Belgian defender was willing to do so under Mauricio Pochettino, Mourinho’s arrival will only convince him to stay in North London more. But both the 32 year old and 30 year old Toby Alderweireld are not likely to the focus of renewals for Levy and Jose. Instead, a decision has to be made soon on the future of their Danish midfielder.

“Our future is very important and I need to understand really what is in Christian’s mind or heart. We have to make the right decision for the club.”

I’m not disputing the two former Ajax defenders’ quality or importance to Spurs. However, Eriksen is definitely higher on their priorities, considering the calibre of clubs who will be in for him in January. Now, 2 questions that are on everyone’s lips. Will the midfielder be convinced to stay? Will the former Manchester United boss want him to stay?

Christian Eriksen may just want a fresh start.

Christian Eriksen – Style Of Play

Wiley in possession, Eriksen is near ambidextrous, meaning that it is impossible to shift him onto a ‘weaker’ foot. This opens huge angles for the Dane to utilise and is a key reason to success. Furthermore, his incredible vision is at the pinnacle of world football. He averages 1.5 key passes per game this season.

Also, the former Ajax man is lethal from set-pieces, both firing at goal and whipping them into the danger area. This would suit Inter down to the ground, as they operate with three central defenders and taller central midfielders in Matias Vecino and Marcelo Brozovic. They are already a danger from these situations; imagine them with a world class delivery.

This man is not bad at attacking set pieces. He joined Inter back in the summer.

For a creative player like Christian Eriksen, a top goalscorer is a necessity for both him and the team to thrive. It is hard to find a better one than Harry Kane in the world right now. To be fair, Inter Milan have Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez, the latter who is on scintillating form right now. Better than Harry though? I think not.

It is okay for a player to want a new start and Inter Milan are on the rise. A 27-year-old Christian Eriksen would be a key player in Conte’s Serie A topping side. It may just be best for Daniel Levy and José Mourinho to let him go.

  1. Il Biscione

One correction Vecino is not a starter for Inter and is crap. Inter Midfield is Sensi-Brozo- Barella, Eriksen addition will have a judge impact on Inter.
