Chelsea transfer ban lifted. What this means for the Premier League:

Frank Lampard has seriously impressed the Premier League this season. After the stars aligned and he returned to Chelsea in the summer, there were serious doubts. Inexperience, a transfer ban, a side that has lost their best player. Critics believed this season would be a car crash for the London side. But he’s silenced them convincingly. The Blues sit 4th, 6 points clear of 5th and the atmosphere around the club has never been better. Now, with the latest news on their transfer situation, the future looks bright at Stamford Bridge.

Sky Sports have reported that Chelsea are now able to sign players in the January window. This comes after months of appeals and proceedings by the club in order to lift or reduce their ban. They’ve been successful and now with money to spend, Blues fans will be excited to see what Lampard can do with this team. January will be a big window, that’s for sure.

Chelsea – Watchlist

So who have Chelsea been linked to recently? Well, Fedor Chalov was considered a target as a backup striker to the on-form Tammy Abraham. With Olivier Giroud growing frustrated of limited game time at the Bridge, bringing in the Russian striker would give the World Cup winner the green light to leave. He’s much younger than Giroud and is highly rated at CSKA Moscow. This move would make sense, considering the direction Lampard wishes to go in with youth and a long term vision.

The Europa League holders have also been linked with a move for Javairo Dilrosun. Another highly rated winger in the Bundesliga, the Dutchman has managed 3 goals and 2 assists in 10 games for Hertha Berlin. His acquisition could potentially signal the end of Willian’s time in the capital. Despite the Brazilian having a decent season for the most part, he isn’t going to get better at 31. Chelsea will also be aware of interest from Barcelona and Juventus for him. Cashing in now would make sense alongside signing a younger better winger to provide Pulisic and Hudson-Odoi with strong competition.

A golden era awaits?

Those are just two examples of players Chelsea could go at the start of the new year. Two players that are young, talented and fit their all time top scorer’s vision. The opening of this window also gives The Blues license to sell players that are either getting on or surplus to requirements. Not that they couldn’t do that before, but now they can immediately replace them. All in all, exciting times are ahead at Stamford Bridge.
