According to SportsMole, Arsenal and Tottenham have been handed a boost as Hakim Ziyech has been told he can leave during the January transfer window. But what does this Moroccan maestro have that has clubs from all over watering at the mouth?
This season may have got off to a good start but last campaign is where Hakim Ziyech truly made his mark. Sixteen goals and thirteen assists in twenty-nine games in the Eredivisie for Ajax, and of course that amazing Champions League run. Ziyech was a catalyst in this spell and an endless line of potential suitors was drawn up over the summer. A move seemed imminent.
Yet Ziyech stayed put. This season he has been on top form once again. Twelve assists already in seventeen games. Just magnificent.
Hakim Ziyech – Style of play
The 26-year-old is a magician on the ball. I’m sure you already have seen his delightful left peg and hawk-eyed vision. Averaging 3.3 key passes in all competitions is no mean feat and, with his significantly improved dribbling statistics (2.7 per game), Ziyech is still improving.
The question lies: can he do it in the Premier League? It’s always a tricky one when delegating over a potential transfer. We have seen our fair bunch of ‘flops’ in England’s top flight. The physicality and pace of the game can take a toll on new arrivals and we’ve seen even the greats need time to adapt. Saying that, Ziyech’s ability to resist the press and break into space is generational, and his eye for a pass in the final third makes him a world-class threat.
If Arsenal or Tottenham can get this deal over the line, what a signing it would be. The North London rivals will be going toe to toe and we can’t wait to see Hakim Ziyech finally in the Premier League. Let’s see how this one turns out…
