José Mourinho has well and truly arrived. Although his backroom staff have come with him, it looks as though Tottenham Hotspur are looking for one more piece of the puzzle if you will. Technical Director Luis Campos. But who is he and what does he bring to North London?
Luis Campos – Signings
Operating as a scout for Real Madrid, he came into his true prowess when he joined AS Monaco as a Technical Director. Remember that Monaco superteam? He was the brains behind it all:
Fabinho – Campos managed to secure a loan move from Brazilian club Fluminense before bringing him in permanently. However, it has to be said that Fabinho’s switch from a right back to defensive-midfielder is all down to Leonardo Jardim, we think.
Thomas Lemar – There was no doubt that Lemar was already an incredible talent coming out of the Caen academy. Luis Campos still had to get the deal done and boy did he. A dynamite left-winger sold on for a tremendous profit.
Kylian Mbappé – It would be criminal not to include this man in the list. Signed from AS Bondy in 2013, this is certainly one of his greatest acquisitions. £166m in the bank.
There are other honourable mentions, such as Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy, but the point remains the same. Luis Campos has the eye for talent. Even up to recent times, working for Lille. Relentless goalscorer Victor Osimhen and Jonathan Ikoné are just a couple of his many ingenious signings. A proven track record in recent times, Luis Campos is exactly what Tottenham Hotspur need. Daniel Levy’s shrewd dealings may just get a boost…
It remains to be seen who Campos could possibly bring in to the club as early as January, with Christian Eriksen looking to be on his way out. Nevertheless, his procurement may just be the final piece of that dreaded trophyless puzzle.
