Moise Kean: Everton struggles for Juventus talent

Moise Kean burst onto the scene at Juventus, making his debut as a 16 year old. 6 goals in 13 games for the Bianconeri last season rewarded the striker with a move to Merseyside. However, 9 games in, we are yet to see a goal from the young talent. Can he turn it around?

The 19 year old made headlines in Serie A in 2018/19. Partly for his effectiveness in front of goal. But also partly due to the racist abuse he received. How he dealt with it was brilliant and gained attention as well as respect from the footballing world. Apart from Leonardo Bonucci, who isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. Everton subsequently signed Kean for €27.5 million, an exciting signing widely considered a bargain in today’s market.

Yet the Italian international has struggled in the harsh lights of the Premier League. Just 1 assist to show for his time so far in England, poles apart from the expectations of the prospect. It’s not got any better for him too, as he was dropped for being late to a team meeting, for a second time. The last thing you want to do if you’re not playing well.

Does Moise Kean deserve patience?

Perhaps Kean deserves some leeway and more time. It’s easy to forget he’s just 19 years old and exploded onto the scene little over a year ago. The Juventus youth product needs time to adjust to a faster and more physical league than Serie A. Players like Dennis Bergkamp took a handful of games to get off the mark and the rest is history.

Just months into his Blues career, Kean is being linked with a move back to Italy. Calciomercato have reported AC Milan are interested in the forward, reportedly speaking to agent Mino Raiola about the possibility over a move for his client.

I personally believe Moise Kean deserves more patience and time from the Goodison Park faithful. It’s not just him under-performing in the side and it might only take 1 goal for him to get off the mark. Everton can’t be too quick to judge and sell in January. He at least deserves until the end of the season.
