Real Madrid to snatch William Saliba from Arsenal?

William Saliba is one of Europe’s most exciting young defenders. He featured 16 times for Saint-Étienne at just 17 years of age last season. It was therefore no surprise Europe’s top sides were interested. In particular, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur

The Gunners managed to seal a £27 million deal for the Frenchman on the condition he would return to France on loan the following season. We did an article on him at the time with what he would bring to the Emirates.

Now pocketing Ligue 1 strikers at 18 years of age in 2019/20, Saliba might not play in North London at all. That’s because he’s reportedly caught the eye of Real Madrid.

Defensa Central have reported Los Blancos are watching the defender closely, with Zinedine Zidane an admirer of Saliba. Without question, the Spanish capital would be an upgrade on Arsenal. No offence Gunners fans. But the likelihood of the London side accepting a bid for a defender they worked so hard to sign and were willing to wait a year for, isn’t high.

Would the move benefit William Saliba?

Also, the better Saliba plays for Les Verts, the higher his market value will be. Don’t be surprised if the Arsenal hierarchy will demand close to £100 million for their exciting prospect. Prices are ridiculous nowadays.

Moreover, it’s not like the former European Champions are flying high at the moment. Moves for Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, etc haven’t exactly gone to plan so far. So perhaps solving Arsenal’s defensive issues might be a good start for the 18 year old rather than be thrown into the deep end at the Bernabeu.

Hypothetically, let’s say Real Madrid are willing to pay ridiculous money for William Saliba. As Arsenal, do you accept it? Or do you stay firm on a defender capable of fixing your back line for years to come? Let us know on Twitter below!

  1. What a load of utter rubbish this article is. A. He’s just signed for Arsenal B. Why on earth would Real pay £100m for him or indeed why would Arsenal ask for such a sum. Nonsense.

      • How can you hijack a move for a player that has already signed a contract with Arsenal !! ??? seriously WTF !! never read such rubbish in my life !! The guy is an Arsenal player do you not understand that fact !! his is on loan back to his old club but has signed a 5 yr contract !! seriously pls get a life !!

  2. what a load a BS story !!! The guy is an Arsenal player fact and final not fiction like this article is saying !!! pls shut the F up and start to do some real journalism !! you are a joke !!

  3. Good Evening Carl, in 2019 Luka Jović was signed by Eintracht Frankfurt for £7m. A month later, he was signed by Real Madrid for what is around £52m. Does this not break your “fact and final” idea? Jović was contracted till 2023, meaning that even though he had just signed for one club, he signed for another – to Real Madrid in fact! Crazy right? So instead of telling the writers of this website to “do some real journalism”, why don’t you do some “real commenting”. How bout that Carl, hey?

  4. Apart from “Tom Quarley, the rest are clearly immature, young fans of frenzy living on judgements based on emotions and clearly under achievers in their Primary Schools where they are at.

In the real world of “cut and thrust” of profit based business, decisions are not made on emotional whims as most of these contributors are, they probably get their Mothers to tuck them in bed every night and read them bed time stories. In the Business world and modern-day football is a business, decisions are based on “Profit”.

If indeed Real Madrid make a genuine offer which is way above and is sufficient to facilitate the signing of both Samuel Umtiti and Dayot Upamecano, who are both 2 stages above that of William Saliba; hey Arsenal go for it. That is good business.

    • You wasted 10 minutes writing 3 paragraphs on an article that’s 2 months old. In the business world, this is called ‘wasting time’. My mum tucks me into bed at night and I sleep well knowing we’re living rent free in your head. Glad you enjoyed the article 🙂
