In today’s Transfer Roundup we will bring you some of the hottest stories across European football. Will Dani Alves make his way to the Premier League? Have Manchester United gone after another forward? And will we see Coutinho in Liverpudlian red once again?
Dani Alves to Manchester City
The 36-year-old full-back has won it all, but now he fancies the Premier League. Following his departure from Paris St. Germain, the club he has been at since 2017, there are rumours circulating that he could be joining Pep Guardiola’s title-winning side.
According to Sachin Nakrani at The Guardian, there is a feeling that Alves can provide back up and perhaps even competition for Kyle Walker. However, this would most likely mean that the current Brazilian back up, Danilo, is to leave Manchester.
Despite his age, Alves has still got the legs to play week in week out and with his invaluable experience, City may finally get their hands on that fabled Champions League trophy…
Manchester United want Everton
A weird headline at first glance, but if you’re aware of the Brazilian dynamo on the left wing that goes by the same name as the Merseyside club, then you should be fine. I am of course talking about Everton Sousa Soares. It has been reported that Manchester United have been watching him eagerly ahead of a potential move.
The 23-year-old scored Brazil’s opener in the Copa América final against Peru before returning to his club side Grêmio in the week. Brazilian media suggest that it could be his final game for the club. Bayern Munich have also been preparing a bid of the wideman but United are also keen to make a move. It’ll be interesting to see the story develop.
Liverpool ‘keen’ on Coutinho return
After five superb seasons at Liverpool, Philippe Coutinho got his dream move to the Nou Camp for a staggering £142 million (if clauses are met). Just one year with the Blaugrana, the Brazilian could be on the move again. According to Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool have shown slight interest in Coutinho, with Barcelona attempting to use the former Inter youngster as a ‘makeweight’ for the return of Neymar.
The midfielder has not quite lived up to expectations when called upon for Ernesto Valverde’s side, with just 7 goal contributions in 34 La Liga games last season (albeit 12 were from the bench). He has struggled to establish himself in Valverde’s starting eleven, especially as he faces fierce competition from Ousmane Dembélé and Malcom.
Liverpool fans…Would you take Philippe back?
