Arsenal fans have been crying out for a tricky winger for years on end, but now the wait could finally be over. Enter Yacine Brahimi: the latest in Unai Emery’s Arsenal masterplan…
Be it Marco Reus or Ousmané Dembélé, there has been no shortage of rumours over the past few years linking the North London side to someone that gets the fans off their feet and according to Sky Sports, a deal could be close. But who is Brahimi and what does he bring to the Gunners?
Scouring meticulously through his Wikipedia page doesn’t do him justice. 36 goals in 139 games, ten this season, for Porto is something that the superficial football fan would scowl at. But delve deeper and you’ll see that the Algerian is a true gem of a player.
Averaging more dribbles than Neymar (5 per game), the skilful sideman is a direct threat to the opposition goal and at least one key pass per game shows his ability to create for his teammates.
Rarely will you pick someone up on a free that has the experience that Yacine Brahimi has. Numerous appearances in the Champions League as well as 45 caps for his country, at 29, would be invaluable for an Arsenal side that are often caught lacking when it comes to cool heads.
Following his Porto exit, Brahimi would be a coup for Arsenal and it will be interesting to see how things develop in the coming days.
