After bursting onto the scene in 2015, Marcus Rashford has now secured a long term contract at Manchester United with a significant pay rise until 2023
The Manchester through and through striker began to realise his potential last season with 13 goals in all competitions and laying on a further 6 assists. At 21 years of age, he has already surpassed 100 appearances for the Red Devils and has an incredibly high ceiling.
Yet his contract upgrade has been met with a mixed reception on social media, perhaps due to the inconsistency of the forward towards the end of United’s chaotic 2018/19 season after his purple patch when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer began as interim manager.
Reports vary in suggesting what Rashford is earning per week at Old Trafford, with some suggesting a staggering £350,000 per week whilst others are suggesting a still lucrative £250,000 per week.
Critics of the wages are suggesting the England international has not done enough to justify these wages and that he should not be one of the club’s top earners. However supporters are also suggesting that last season showed real strides in his development as a player and if Romelu Lukaku was to leave for Inter Milan, Rashford would thrive as the main man in United’s attack.
