According to Goal in Italy, Milan are preparing a bid that may include the option of two of their own players in order to bring the Uruguayan across Europe. However, it seems as though Arsenal are resolute on keeping the tough-tackler in North-London.
This transfer has began to take shape following former Sampdoria manager Marco Giampaolo’s arrival at the San Siro. Torreira and Giampaolo were close at i blucerchiati, and the latter has now set his eyes on bringing Torreira back under his management.
After a monumental start, Torreira seemed to fade away, perhaps due to the everlasting World Cup hangover. The 23-year-old made 34 appearances for Arsenal last season, 10 from the bench. He averaged 1.1 interceptions and 1.9 tackles per game in the Premier League and of course scored that memorable goal v Tottenham.
A fan favourite already, Arsenal fans will lose the plot if their little Uruguayan departs the Emirates. However, for now they could be safe. According to BBC Sport’s David Ornstein, Arsenal have no intention whatsoever of allowing Torreira to depart. It will be interesting to see if Arsenal do in fact get the chance to bring a couple of players the other way.
