Arsenal close in on first summer signing
William Saliba. Not quite a household name like Yannick Carrasco but a mighty fine player nonetheless. According to Talk Sport, the 18-year-old is in advanced talks with the London club over a potential move away from St. Etienne.
However, along with interest from Manchester United, the French first division club are only interested in a deal if the €30m fee is met, as well as a loan back for the 2019/20 season.
This means that the transfer must be a long-term one for Arsenal, something they perhaps can’t afford given their recent defensive frailties. It’ll be interesting to see the deal materialise over the coming days, whether it’s with Arsenal or United…
Betis holding out on Lo Celso
After their Dane maestro admitted he thinks it is time he should leave the club, Spurs look to have found their replacement in Giovanni Lo Celso.
Preparing a second bid closer to the £88 million release clause the Argentinian has, it would see the North London club shatter their previous record fee of £42 million for Davidson Sanchez.
However, the Andalusian club are looking to cash in on Lo Celso AFTER the Copa America, hoping his stock rises on the back of good performances alongside Messi and Co. This could draw Daniel Levy and Poch into a bidding war they do not want to be involved in based upon their previous forrays into the transfer market, if they are also hoping to complete the signing of Lyon’s talented midfielder, Tanguy Ndombele.
In hindsight, after posting world-record profits of £113 million, breaking the record Liverpool set recently of £106 million, Spurs are likely to be a force in this summer’s transfer window; looking to cement their status as one of Europe’s best.
Bringing in Lo Celso, who racked up 16 goals and six assists in his first campaign with Betis after moving from PSG and was one of La Liga’s stars, would certainly highlight Tottenham are here to stay.
Juventus Chief in talks with United for Pogba
According to Sky Sports, the Bianconeri’s sporting director Fabio Paratici is in London for talks with Manchester United about a deal for Paul Pogba.
The Italian giants are expressing large interest in bringing their former player back to Turin, with highly rated right back and Manchester City target Joao Cancelo going to Old Trafford as part of the deal.
The Red Devils want around £150 million for their record signing and World Cup winner, who’s relationship with the Old Trafford faithful has soured over the last few months due to inconsistency and off the pitch persona.
With Mino Raiola’s ban lifted by FIFA, negotiations could progress at a fast pace and Pogba, who has been strongly linked with Real Madrid too in the last few days, could be leaving Manchester very soon.
