Transfer Roundup: Man Utd and Tottenham fight for winger, Meunier ‘close’ to Arsenal and Bale-Pogba swap

Manchester United and Tottenham vie for Sessegnon

Ryan Sessegnon has rejected a new contract at recently-relegated Fulham. The 19-year-old had a tricky season at the London-based side, scoring 2 goals and assisting 6 in 35 games; however, these aren’t neccessarily bad stats when you realise that Fulham only managed 34 goals all season.

Nevertheless, his performances have peaked the interest of many clubs, particularly Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. With his current contract ending next season, Fulham face the possibilty of losing him for next to nothing if they don’t accept Tottenham’s £25m valuation, and it seems like that is where Sessegnon would prefer to play…

The young full back, turn winger, has regularly showed his admiration for manager Mauricio Pochettino and it seems as though he would love nothing more than to link up with the Champions League runners-up.

Thomas Meunier ‘close’ to Arsenal transfer

Following rumours that Unai Emery has been in direct contact with his former player, Thomas Meunier, the £20m-£25m valuation from PSG may be met by Arsenal sooner rather than later. Stefan Lichtsteiner’s departure has left a hole for a versatile defender that can operate both as a full-back and on the right of a back three.

However, according to Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur, Meunier would perhaps be more inclined to join Manchester United, his boyhood club. It’ll be an interesting couple of days to see which Premier League side comes out on top in negotations…

Bale and Pogba swap on the cards

According to The Express, Real Madrid are prepared to offer Manchester United Gareth Bale in order to bring Paul Pogba in. Real Madrid have already signed Eden Hazard and Luka Jović but now it seems as though they want a world-class midfielder to bolster their ranks, and Pogba fits the bill.

United on the other hand have been rumoured to be in for the unhappy Bale for the past few seasons, and this swap could present the perfect opportunity to bring him in. But, with a weekly wage of £600,000 and three years left on his contract, the logistics around the swap could get tricky…
