Inter Milan have signed Southampton defender Cedric Soares on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy.
The Nerazzurri are looking to strengthen their options in the back line with an injury to Atletico Madrid loanee Šime Vrsaljko, who is their only recognised right-back.
The Portuguese international joined the Saints in 2015 and has gone on to make 112 appearances at the St Mary’s Stadium, including starting in their EFL Cup Final defeat to Manchester United in 2017.
“The more important thing in this transfer period is to give players away, to have a committed group that is not too big.”Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl on transfers this window
Cedric has struggled with injury this season, limiting him to 18 appearances in the Premier League in 2018/19.
The former Sporting CP defender was part of the Portugal squad that won Euro 2016 and at 27 years of age, will be a useful addition to Luciano Spalletti’s squad.
