After spending 2 years stashing his pockets in the Chinese Super League, John Obi Mikel is on his way back to English football.
According to Sky Sports, the Nigerian midfielder is undergoing a medical at Middlesbrough, with Tony Pulis looking to bolster his side ahead of an intense battle for the play-off places.
Mikel spent 11 years at Chelsea between 2006 and 2017, winning everything at Stamford Bridge. This included 2 Premier Leagues, 3 FA Cups and a Champions League.
The 31 year old has spent the last 2 years of his career at Tianjin TEDA, but has continued to play for the Nigerian national team, who he won the African Cup of Nations with in 2013.
Boro currently sit 5th in the Championship table and Mikel’s experience could prove to be invaluable in their challenge for promotion.
